Browning M2HB Historical Information:
The standard heavy machine gun of most NATO members, the
Browning M2 has also been used by many other countries. Only
the .45 ACP M1911 pistol has been in use longer than the M2.
The M2 Quick Change Barrel system is a recent development,
allowing increased uptime for this weapon system.
The M2HB has served as aircraft armament from the 1920s to
the present. Widely used during World War II and the the
Korean War, the very same guns went through the Vietnam War.
Some of those very same guns were used during operations in
Iraq and Afghanistan in the 2000s.
