My Golden Gun Page

Big,
guady, ugly, even, my golden gun exists just
because.

I'd
really hoped she would turn out prettier than this. Notice the
reworked Harbor Freight cordless drill, made into the motion
control actuator.

Grips
are solid walnut, made by
Otmar's wood
Products.

Spade
grips, giant ring sight for triple a use. The butterfly
trigger functions as it should.

The
motorized stand has 2 feet of elevation available: the gun can
move up and down, as well as rotate and pivot.

I can
actually motor it up and over my neighbor's fence, and fire
into his pool!

This
gun was later repainted, and went on to serve in airsoft
skirmish. Notice the cut-down cordless drill that now serves
as an actuator.

You
can see my homemade motion drive a bit better in this
shot.

The
motion drives are very simple. Homemade linear actuators, for
all intents and purposes. Instead of limit switches, this
design utilizes the torque clutches inside the drills. At the
limits of travel, the drives just slip harmlessly.

The
tilt drive is seen here. The flat washers stop the gun's
travel, and can be easily adjusted.

Real
walnut charging handle is spring-loaded for realistic action,
just for fun.
