I used the base coat from the pewter kit.
See that
"stippling" around the safe-fire selector?
I didn't get all
the alcohol dried before I shot the base coat.
The paint
immediately "fisheye'd". I almost did something about it, but
it looks like old rust that was wire-brushed off years ago, so
I left it.
A mistake isn't always a mistake.

But the
topcoat they provide is grey, so I improvised.

I
sprayed on flat black and brown enamel at random...

And
used a paper towel soaked in mineral spirits (paint thinner)
to wipe it away until I got the effect I wanted.
The
furniture was done the same way, but without the silver base
coat.

The
front of the springer mag I converted, and the real NOS front
grip I got at IMA.

Not
quite authentic looking on the mag details, but it does
work.
I think the antique job helps hide this.
